Season 2013 is just about upon us.

Well the 2013 season is upon us. Putting the transmission back in the TZ soon. Should be on the track by May 13th is all goes well.
This season only a couple of races. One or two R.A.C.E. rounds and then head to the Ohio to race on the July 21-22 weekend. The rest of the season will be track days at some different tracks.
Nothing very new to the bike this season. All the same I'm very excited to get out there.
Heading to Texas next week to attend the MotoGp round in Austin. Looking forward to watching the best in the world race. It will be the 1st of many I hope to get to over the years to come.

Max Mercier Safety Fund Track Day

Haven't posted much because very little has gone on all summer. At round 2 of RACE I had a some motor issues.  Got that sorted and have just been practicing and doing some track days.  I will be racing the last two rounds.
In the mean time here is some video from my bike at the Max Mercier Track Day at Shannonville on the long track this August 10th. This is shot from the TZ250 trying to hunt down and pass Gary's Ducati. My front tire is shagged so I'm being a little cautious with the front starting to get greasy. Just a track day so no need to push too hard.

On the ice

Sandy Noce invited me out to try his YZR450 on the ice this past Sunday. So down to 12 O'clock point we headed. Sandy headed out with old Dodge truck and plow and created a circuit on the bay. Being it was my first time on the ice and with someone else's bike, I thought I'd just watch these guys go a few laps before I gave it a go. So I observed some of Canada'a best motorcycle road racers take to the ice on their 450's with studded ice tires. Jodi Christie, Sandy Noce and Kenny Riedmann where out tearing up the bay.
When it came to my turn to give this completely foreign to me type of riding to me a try, I took advice from the young Riedmann, "you will have lot's of traction. If the front starts to slide, get on the throttle and it will hook up." Sounds simple enough. The first couple of laps I was brutally slow. Later in my second session I graduated to just slow but was getting the feel for things. I think this is going to be my winter thing from here on in. I had a very good experience and loved that I can be on a bike in the winter also and it's just a 1/2 hr from my house. So I will have to shop for a 450 in the near future. And I'll have to get faster.
To see what this looks and feels like from Kenny Riedmann's point of view, have a look at this video he created from the day. He did a pretty good job in the edit also.    http://vimeo.com/36711964
 Sandy, thanks for the experience.

Samantha Dalby took some very good shots on the day. This first one is of me contemplating my slowness.

The fast guys being fast.

2012 . . .

The season ahead is shaping up to be an exciting one for me. I have some support from Pro6 and mulcahey.com(me). My hand is up to squeezing the clutch and almost pain free. Also R.A.C.E and TrackFever Racing are teaming up to have a race round at Calabogie. Ohhhhh yeah!
So February is the time when I start to take TZ apart and freshen it up for the season. As soon as my parts come in I'll be getting at it.

Pro6 support

With pride I'd like to welcome the support of Sandy and Sheena of Pro6 Cycle.
Pro6 is a huge supporter of motorcycle racing in Canada.
Pro6 is the Canadian distributor of Dunlop Motorcycle Race tires. Please have a look at what they have to offer trackside. The Dunlops are the best race tires available in this country.
Pro6 is also the exclusive motorcycle track day organizer at Calabogie Motorsports Park
For all your race or street motorcycle needs head over to the Pro6 shop in Toronto.

The Hand

My hand is getting better. Dr. Mike McKee has taken off my cast and I'm now in the rehab stage.
The thumb is stiff but gets more mobility every day but still has pain. But the pain is not as bad as the arthritic pain that this surgery is meant to correct. It's all good!

Off Season

My name is Gary Mulcahey. I road race a Yamaha TZ250 in the regional R.A.C.E. series here in Ontario. I may race at a few of the SOAR events in Western Ontario if time permits. I will try to make a race at Mid Ohio also this coming 2012 season.
It is mid November and I'm recuperating from hand surgery. Nothing motorcycle related but it should help me out for 2012. Also trying to come back from a concussion caused by a crash late July of 2011. My head is close to 100% but the hand is only 30% at the time of this post. If all goes well I'll be back in the saddle in April of 2012.
I will try to keep this up to date throughout the 2012 season.

Thanks for following along.
